Earnings, cash generation and value creation need separate examination. Growth can consume working capital even when the income statement improves.
Original practice scenario
In an original business case, revenue rises but receivables rise faster and cash collections lag. Reconcile profit to cash and identify whether the growth uses funding. Explain the metric a manager should monitor instead of concluding that a higher reported margin proves stronger liquidity.
